Humans have made leaps and strides in techonology/philosophy/the arts and the sciences due to being able to store and pass along knowledge.

As a whole, we need to be educated, at least briefly, on multiple topics. This serves different purposes:
        1. We can have educated conversations
        2. We can make reasonable decisions for our problems
        3. We will know enough so that if we wanted, we can pursue that subject and become further educated, and educate others.

Conventional education especially in my country doesn't keep-up with today's dynamics. Students need to be exposed to in addition to their normal class work , other sources of information of course consistent with their level of development. 'Official syllabus' textbooks that students stare at as their only information source just to pass some exam is a big problem where I am from.

I think education is a waste of time. It's brainwashed people by putting thoughts/ideas, dictate them how to act/behavior, forces them to decide what's right or wrong by man made up laws to control and rob money or enslave them, etc. I must I go on? It would a NEVER end series. Human should be able to FREELY express themselves without anyone direct or indirect influence their acting, expressing, thinking, etc.

The proposal might undermine equitable distribution and promote cronyism. Indeed, such ignorance paves the way for many ... but only feeds corporate greed, to allow ourselves to be discouraged, to give way to disillusionment.

Education does not define what's wrong or right, some very educated people can be serial killers for example. If education is a waste of time, then one won't be able to know what 'brainwashing' means. Laws have always existed so that anarchy and crime could be prevented, do you believe that doing absolute trash in life is 'freedom'? Being an armchair philosopher is not the sighn of being free, rather the sign of being unsuccessful in life which is a cause of lack of education. It is always easier to rule and influence uneducated people and only educated ones can actually freely express themselves and act freely and wisely. Education is one of the keys to personal success.

Education gives you the basics, what you do with it is up to you .... being negative doesn't help also.

Without education, we cannot raise children, organize and work and succeed our culture. I think writing a book is education in a sense.
But, in this time, "education" like brainwash is prevalent.

it's a waste if we do not know: how to use it, what to do with it, what we can do with it.

the most important is to make students aware the usage of what they learn, memorize or practice, what they can do with it, and why they need to acquire or master it.

so awareness must come first, education itself will follow latter.

if school itself fail to convince students the urge of the education in which school offer, then it's already a waste from the very beginning, even before the class is started.

School pretty much failed me, I wasn't interested in many of the subjects because I couldn't see how they could possibly use the content once I had left, it also turns out I was terrible at school exams, so I left school feeling that my experience of formal education had failed me - Oh I was very good at a particular sport though.
It wasn't till enlisting in one of the UK Armed Forces that I got involved in technical things, realised I had a very good spatial awareness in different subjects, started passing trade exams at 98 or 99%.
I've then had decades solidly based in computing, I have never stopped learning, I've even taught particular complex aspects.
So has education been a waste - yes, has learning, NO!
The thing is, there is no 'one size fits all' - for some an apprenticeship suits, others a degree or masters helps them, I would note one thing though, at various times I've trained people joining to do what I did, having a degree is not a good measure of intelligence or maybe I've just met some really dumb graduates, the ability to apply learning can be a huge step above having a piece of paper saying 'I did this', what you do with it THEN, is the hard part.

Depends on quality of education, what is learned , and how's its used.
