  • Post your favourite recipe from your country

The idea of this thread is really simple. If everyone post's their favourite recipes from their region we will end up with lots of recipes which we never knew about.I think the collective database of the recipes will be quite useful to the people who love eating and cooking good food.

So I will start by posting my favourite recipe from Canada.
As many of you from North might know about Nanaimo Bars.So here is my favourite recipe for it.

    Ingredients

    4 ounce(115 grams roughly) Chocolate(semisweet)
    1/2 Cup white sugar
    1/2 Cup Butter
    2 Cup Confectioner Sugar
    1/2 Cup Softened Butter
3 Tablespoon French Vanilla Pudding Mix( I use Jell-O French Vanilla Pudding Mix you can also use your homemade mix)
    5 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder Unsweetened
    1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    2-2.5 Tablespoon butter
1.5 Cup of Cracker Crumb(graham cracker crumb)
    1 Cup Chopped Walnuts
    1 Egg Lightly Whisked
    3-4 Tablespoon Milk
    Method Of Preparation
    • Take a dish 10x12 or 9x13 size.Grease it and keep it aside. Now To make the crust, place 1/2 cup of butter in a large saucepan, and melt over low heat. Stir in the sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat, mix in the egg until the mixture is well-combined, then stir in graham cracker crumbs and walnuts.
    • Pack the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, smooth it into an even layer, and refrigerate until cooled, at least 30 minutes.
    • For the filling first beat together confectioners' sugar, 1/2 cup of softened butter, pudding mix, and milk until the filling is smooth and fluffy. Spread the filling over the cooled crust, and return to refrigerator for 30 more minutes.
    • For the topping we first have to melt chocolate with 2 tablespoons of butter over very low heat, and stir until the mixture is warm (not hot) and pourable. Pour the topping over the cooled filling, spreading the topping out if necessary with an offset spatula or knife to cover the topping completely. Return the dish to the refrigerator to cool the topping for about 15 minutes.
    • When the topping is cool but not yet hard, cut into squares; return to refrigerator to finish chilling.
    • Serve when ready.Personally, I like it when served with some strawberries but hey I have a peculiar tongue you can try out various options.
I hope you all will post your favourite recipe's too also drop me a message if you liked this particular recipe or you wanna exchange some recipes.

    Thanks,
    Advaitya.
