  • Gods & the Supernatural

Gods are as old as humanity itself. But do they really exist and what about the supernatural?

  • #2
I personally believe yes, Gods do exist, but just not in the same sense that we think they do. I don't think any God is truly all-powerful, but rather that all of them are different aspects of the universe . . . in the exact same way that we, as human beings, are different aspects of the universe.

As for the supernatural, well, maybe we should define what it means to be supernatural. There are plenty of people who don't believe in things like spirits and other entities, and that's totally fine. I do believe in them--but in all reality, I don't believe that they're "super"natural. Just natural, a part of the universe as we are. I talk about the paranormal, but even that is just meant to put a label on something I find interesting so other people can get an idea of what I think about the topics.

Either way, while I believe XYZ it's fine if other people only believe in one God, or two Gods, or none, or if they don't believe in the supernatural, or whatever. Unless such beliefs are forced onto others, or violence is done in the name of such beliefs, it's not hurting anyone.

Positude has provided some illuminated views & words for us.

Her views on the 'super'natural & the 'para'normal are highly resemblant of my own.

Could it be that 'humanity' has always existed and will always exist?

I suggest that perhaps there are many worlds and that the concept of a 'universe' is actually implanted on us, as our consciousness keeps finding itself in states which don't have perfect freedom.

Growing up I used to read alot of ghost stories which I found gripping. As I have matured in life I have encountered several energies of deceased humans, and they have not been felt as 'other-worldly' nor have they been the slightest bit startling.

Small “g” gods do not exist except in the minds of those who create them. This isn’t to say these false gods are not powerful. Like the placebo effect, a false, non-existent god can have a great impact on a person’s life. Whether you’re feeding oranges to a statue of a Hindu god or compulsively feeding a slot machine in Las Vegas, your false god has a strong grip on you. Any addiction is also the worship of a false god.

The stipulation that a multiplicity of gods/goddesses are always fictional creations of humans' psyches, is insentient to the rich plurality of the human race's occult nobility, and unloving.

A strange comment. It’s better to express yourself in everyday language if you want to make a point.

            Anyway, I wasn’t being “unloving”.

What's your evidence for your statement?

Everything so far that has been tagged as "supernatural" inevitably gets revealed as having a natural cause.

The universe is a vast, constantly working factory and the globe of the earth a hostel and guest-house which is continually filled and emptied. Generally, factories, hostels and guest-houses which are thus used become much dirtied and soiled with filth, debris and rubbish, and putrid matter accumulates in all parts of them. Unless they are kept with care and cleaned and swept, they cannot be occupied; human beings are overwhelmed by the dirt. The factory of the universe and guest-house of the earth, however, are totally pure, clean and spotless, and completely unsoiled, untainted and fresh; there is nothing unnecessary, nothing without benefit, not a random piece of dirt to be found. Even if there is apparently, it is quickly thrown into a transformation machine and cleaned.
This means that the One Who looks after this factory does so very well.

Well, if there is anything supernatural or a divnity out there (except my divine presence), I vinite you to give us some evidences. As long as there is no evidence of anything supernatural, or of any god either being omnipotent or being inlove with wine, better to do as if there was nothing.
Another viable position, in my opinion, is to be unconcerned/uninterested as long as there is not even a clue that might lead you to think of the hypothesis of the potential existence of such things. After all, there could a be a pink unicorn in your neighbourhood, or a gorilla with 87 eyes, 3 arms, 1 hand and a tongue coming out of his ass that is hidden below your bed between 23:59 and 00:00 as well. In this, Russel's teapot is the best example.

The blinding light of your divine presence is so bright that only the Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un is visible next to you, O Great Sancta Lux!

İf you think clearly you will find Him... Here an evidence to you. Please read don't say that wrote your own words. Words were written...

And as eyelids obey the command to clean the eye and flies to brush their wings, so the extensive atmosphere and the clouds obey it. The air blows upon the pieces of dust and soil settled on the surface and face of the earth and cleans it. The sponges of the clouds sprinkle water on the garden of the earth and becalm the dust and soil. Then, in order not to dirty the sky, the air quickly collects the earth's rubbish and withdraws and hides itself with perfect orderliness. It displays the beautiful face and eye of the skies as swept and polished, all sparkling and shining.
And as the stars, elements, minerals, and plants obey the command to clean, all particles and atoms also obey it: they pay attention to cleanliness within the astonishing upheavals of change and transformation. They never congregate anywhere unnecessarily and get in the way. And if they do become soiled, they are quickly cleaned. They are impelled by a hand of wisdom to acquire the cleanest, neatest, and most shining states and the most beautiful, pure and subtle forms.

Qu'ran is certainly a beautiful piece of litterature and poetry, I won't argue about that but for the rest, it's good for muslims only, like Homer's Odyssey is only good for its litterary qualities but doesn't convince you at all that Poseidon might punish you someday.
