"Necessity is the mother of all inventions". But what happens when inventions are used beyond necessity?
Life expectancy and mortality datas show positive results , but why does the happiness index tell the other story?
Thing is, all these technological advancements are made to make human life easier and comfortable, but this comfort has made humans lazy, weak and diseased. According to a recent survey, obesity is increasing around the world at alarming rates. Obesity is not something to laugh at, it can lead to several dangerous diseases. About 90% of human population above the age of 30 suffers from the deficiency of VitaminDas they avoid contact with sun as much as they can. This leads to weakening of bones in not only that person but also his/her future generations. Different fatal diseases which were unknown about 15-20 years have became extremely common among people. These and many other adverse effects can be diagnosed inside almost any human body of this era. Researchers relate all these diseases with technological advancements, but are these bodily diseases the worst result of these advancements?
No. More or less the structure of human body and bodily disorders are still the same. These are psychological or mental disorders which are the worst consequences of technological advancements. What's really worrying are the age groups which are affected the most,i.e., teenagers and people in the age group 20-30. Historically, these age groups have been the most productive age groups for the humans, so these people getting affected the most can be very dangerous for the survival of entire human race. Here are some psychological disorders which are most common among this age-group :
Anxiety and depression disorder- 70% people in the age group 18-30 suffer from this disorder.
Bipolar disorder- 85% people under the age of 25 are battling this disease. What's worst is that only 25% of these people can go for medical treatment because of the behavioural changes they undergo.
Anhedonia- The true numbers for victims of this disease cannot be calculated, as people suffering from this disorder tend to isolate themselves from everyone. However, some researchers claim that over 20% of the human population suffers from this disorder majority of which are in their early twenties.
Anger management disorders- Yeah everybody gets angry, but there are people who can get angry for unknown reasons and then can't control it. Such people often harm themselves and others around them to control their anger. They are most susceptible to get inclined towards substance abuse, criminal activities and suicide. 30% of people in the age group 18-30 suffer from this disorder, which is 4 times(,i.e.,7%) the data reported in 2008, which shows this disease can become a serious threat for humans within 4-5 years.
Medical professionals and researchers attribute these increasing numbers to technology. They say that such people tend to spend more time with technological devices like mobiles, computers, video games, etc. This adversely affects their performance at school and work, which in turn, leads to social isolation. Isolation leads to unspoken grief which comes out in the form of uncontrolled anger and depression.
Apart from this there's one more indirect way in which the life of such people worsens further. This is because of the ignorance and arrogance of others which is also partly related to the laziness caused to these people by technology.Society and elders have the habit to categorise psychological disorders as secondary disorders and normally they link every mental disorder with madness. They often humiliate and mock psychologically ill people without realising that such people get hurt easily and hence feel much more isolated with such behaviour. But here too, the laziness of humans play part as instead of studying or learning something useful, they usually waste their time on stupid daily soaps and pornographies, thus, limiting their knowledge about psychologically ill people.
Technology can be a boon or curse. At the moment, it's mostly curse.

As always, it's not the technology that's the problem, but us. Our technology evolved far faster than we ever could, and now we're suffering for it. I think another factor in the rise of mental illness is the fact that natural selection has become far less potent than it once was- as is practically inevitable with the instatement of society. Granted, I think it's quite necessary for a society to mitigate the deaths of it's occupants, but it does have inherent flaws that'll likely only worsen. There are potential solutions working in conjunction with society and natural selection, but they're far too exploitable, I think. I apologize as what I've written isn't entirely relevant
