  • There and then

    There
    that instant
    Between when the wave crashes
And the stones sweep the sand
    Between the moment
    When innocence dies
    And heavy knowledge
Wraps its icy fingers around your heart
    When sun rises
And breathes fire on the day
When you wish time would not advance
    And just stop
    But it continues anyway

That which you can no longer evade
    As the light falls
    And you cannot look away
    What will you find
    A reflection in a mirror
    Or a muddied pool
    Or what you always knew,
    And denied
    What price
    That it should all
    Just run
    Like tears
    Or rain drops down
    The window pane

This is such a great way of finishing the poem. The whole poem was this abstract confuddle of emotional experiences. And to end it on such a simple image of the window pane, really made this poem speak to me.
